I Love You to Death (1990)

this one came in as a suggestion a while back from Kat. she mentioned that it has some great performances in it. very true. i'll get to that in a minute.

the movie is actually based on a true story about a cheating husband who is targeted by his wife and mother-in-law for murder. they try to do it themselves, then they start asking and then paying others to do it for them. the problem is that he just won't die. they try to blow him up, make him overdose, and shoot him multiple times.

Harlon and Marlon standing over Joey's bed
i think my favorite part of this movie is the performances by William Hurt and Keanu Reeves as cousins Harlon and Marlon, paid to kill Joey (Kevin Kline) in his sleep. they are complete idiots and goof up the murder about as much as two people can be expected to. why a baseball bat you might ask? well why not right? he might wake up or something.

i like the idea of including screenshots of the original film here in the diary. i may not do it all the time, but it could be a good idea when it adds some value to the entry. i love that shot where they're standing over Joey's bed pondering the extraordinarily easy murder.

well, so i guess i enjoyed a couple of minutes of the movie, but most of the time the plot was dragging quite a bit. i think my favorite scene of the entire movie was the opening scene where Joey goes to confession and tells the priest that he has sinned. the priest asks him how many times he has committed adultery over the past two weeks and he keeps getting his figures mixed up. he eventually settles on "let's say 12 times...give or take a few times."
