A Mighty Wind (2003)

this was the most anticipated movie for me for the past couple of months. i had been waiting for it to finally come to town and Leslie and Clay and i went to the premier here last night. we had heard a lot of people say it was just ok, and that was pretty much right. the music was well made, but not to a comedic effect for the most part.

it's another Christopher Guest mockumentary about three old folk groups that are working towards a return to the stage after the death of an aging concert promoter. they work on their acts and emotionally preparing themselves for again performing in front of a large audience, then there's the big concert at the end. it's the same formula as the last few movies (reason for get-togther is explained, focus on a few key groups that are going to the show, then spend the last half hour actually filming the show).

well, this is for the most part just another mediocre movie from the creators of This Is Spinal Tap (1984), Waiting for Guffman (1996), and Best in Show (2000). well actually Best in Show is pretty awesome, but the rest of them were just fair. a couple of funny things that happened in them, but for the most part you were just watching the screen expecting it to be funnier than it was.
