Life of Brian (1979)

i'm still working on catching up on the Monty Python films. i must admit for the most part that i just don't get it. i do like some british humor. like the Mr. Bean tv series i love and i actually have many of the episodes on tape. but Monty Python is just one thing that i don't get for the most part. it's like i understand the jokes and why they're funny to some people, but it's just extraordinarily mild to me. i guess i'm too used to the in your face type of humor that the rest of America is used to. oh well, as long as i laugh at something right?

this is a complete farce as always. it's about a boy named brian that was born right next to Jesus and often gets mistaken for the messiah during his life. i have trouble summing up many comedies like this because they're so episodic. it's like trying to summarize an episode of SNL. it's a series of skits that all have a common theme of being in Judea and Jerusalem and that's about it.

well, i think i laughed out loud at like two of the scenes in this, but the rest of it i just sat there watching. i wasn't bored really, but it wasn't insanely funny either like it's supposed to be. i know some of you are disagreeing with me, but that just means i don't have your sense of humor. in all fairness this film is ranked number 164 on the IMDb's top 250 list. so it must be funny to a lot of people. just not so much to me.
