Witness (1985)

this was a movie i had on my "to see list" that i was reading off to Keith as possible things we might pick up at the video store last night. we decided to go ahead and get this one. it was a Best Picture nominee for 1985 and turned out to be pretty good. although Keith fell asleep about 3/4 of the way into it.

it stars Harrison Ford as police officer John Book and Kelly McGillis as an Amish mother. her son ends up seeing a police officer killed in a train station and John works on trying to find out who the killer is. he has to later go into hiding to keep some dirty cops from killing him or the Amish boy. he gets shot and the Amish nurse him back to health. then he begins to fall in love with Kelly McGillis and the conflict between their violent/non-violent worlds comes to a climax.

lots of great lighting in this movie. a lot of lanterns are used that create some really cool shadows, silhouettes, etc.

Harrison Ford does a really great job as always, but it's nothing that out of the ordinary for him. Kelly McGillis was amazing. she communicated so many emotions just through her facial expressions. and her accent was flawless and very attractive. great job there.

i guess i don't have intensely strong feelings about this movie, but it's definitely worth watching and entertaining.
