Ju-on: The Grudge (2003)

someone had suggested a couple of times that i watch this one. i hope they weren't wanting me to watch the American version...since we ended up watching the original Japanese version.

this is a horror film (if you can't tell from the cover), which concerns a series of random people who come in contact with a haunted house. the house apparently contains the souls of people who died there years before. the house (i guess?) is the thing that is holding a grudge on life and sends out the original murder victims to take other lives. so the basic idea is that if a person enters the haunted house, the victims' souls will eventually find and kill that person in one crazy way or another.

wow, i was just looking on the IMDb and this apparently is the 3rd film in a series. they have listed Ju-on (2000), Ju-on 2 (2000), and this film is followed by Ju-on: The Grudge 2 (2003), and Ju-on: The Grudge 3 (2006). crazy. but i didn't really feel like we were missing anything by seeing this one film and not the rest. very little reference to things that happened in the past.

we enjoyed it a little bit, although neither Jill nor i are huge horror fans. especially when i make Jill watch the movie late at night with all of the lights off. this movie caused her a bit of grief for the next couple of evenings.

anyway, thanks for the suggestion to whoever that was. i'm always willing to expand my movie horizons!
