13 Going on 30 (2004)

we mainly wanted to watch this a few days ago because of the Thriller dance scene which we knew took place in the middle of the movie. Jill and i have started learning the Thriller (or at least a few of the main moves from it) to teach at the upcoming Teen Masquerade Ball that is going on at the library on Friday. we also have to dance the Time Warp from The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975).

people usually compare this to the movie Big (1988) with Tom Hanks. it's about a 13 year old girl who wishes to be "30...flirty..." and something else "irty." i honestly can't remember. the main difference between this and Big is that she is more or less transported into her own future. see, in Big, he is still in the same year and everyone else is the same. in this movie, she's moved 17 years into the future and everyone else has aged along with her. she then has to deal with being older and the fact that she has become a complete jackass of a grownup. or at least that's what everyone tells her. she's a bitch. but actually she still has her sweet 13 year old personality, so she's not a bitch. she has to stop everyone from thinking that, including her childhood friend, Matt (Mark Ruffalo), who doesn't even know or like her anymore. she starts to get a crush on her friend Matty, and he seems to be returning her feelings, but he's planning on getting married soon. how will it turn out? watch and see.

Thriller dance scene
well, we're loving doing the Thriller. i wonder if we can get some shots of that to put up on Flickr. we're doing the creep walk, the head twitch, and the sliding sidestep clap parts of the dance. it should be great.

anyway, i actually thought this movie was pretty good. it was fun and we were entertained by it. we're also moderate Jennifer Garner fans because of Alias. i guess we've seen most of her movies at this point, although i wouldn't say any of them actually compare to the now and again greatness that is Alias.
