Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

well, the time finally rolled around to go see Episode III. after a number of years of being a big fan, it has all come to an end. i'm not sure if it would be a good idea to make any more Star Wars movies after this one. this time around, i didn't read the novelization of the film before seeing it and i think that worked very well for me. i was really amazed at everything that was happening in the film. and i think my palms were sweating the whole time i watched.

i hope you already know what this movie is about, but i'll do my traditional description here. this movie fills in the gap between episodes II and IV. it's about how Anakin Skywalker finally decisively becomes Darth Vader, how Luke and Leia are born, and how the Emperor takes over the galaxy. it's an unfortunate and tragic story, but it's wonderful to watch. it finishes on a wonderfully sad and terrible note, but provides reminders that Luke and the rebellion will later set things right in other glorious battles.

i still maintain my stance that Hayden Christensen is not the best actor in the world. my theory for a couple of years now is that Anakin would have been much more expertly played by James Franco who looks almost exactly like Christensen. his character in the Spider-Man series is also very similar, so we know he knows how to play this sort of part.

anyway, it was a great movie. i'm definitely getting it as soon as it comes out on dvd. Lucas did a wonderful job of tying all of the plots together and didn't miss any of the small details i could think of. he even added in subtle hints such as Obi-Wan retrieving the lightsaber of Anakin (which he would later give to Luke), and C-3PO's memory being erased once he was given to Capt. Antilles.

go see it!
