The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994)

this is a famous Australian film that i have seen a number of times before but never reviewed. Jill and i decided that she needed to see it for some reason or another.

it's about a group of paid-to-perform drag queens who decide to leave the comforts of Sydney and go on a journey to Alice Springs where they will do a series of shows. along the way they run into friends, hostility, confusion, and fun. it's an interesting tale. in my opinion it doesn't really go anywhere that worthwhile, but it's sort of a fun ride.

what is Priscilla? it's what they name their pink tour bus that they take out to Alice Springs. if you're not too familiar with the continent of Australia, Alice Springs is right in the center. there are hundreds of miles between Alice Springs and anything else. well, all of the towns are really small anyway if you do happen to stumble upon them.

i think the main thing to watch this movie for is the performances, and especially the costumes. i think if you asked me which film has the most outlandish but wonderful costumes, i'd definitely say it's Priscilla.

i also like the 3 lead actors in the film, Guy Pearce (from Memento), Hugo Weaving (from Lord of the Rings and The Matrix) and Terrence Stamp (Episode I and Superman 2).
