i decided that there were a number of Steve Martin films that Jill and i needed to see, so it's a Steve Martin marathon! i used to watch Three Amigos an insane amount as a kid, so i think this movie is still hilarious. i think it took Jill a while to get into it, but she started laughing at the end.
the movie is about three washed up film actors in the 1920s who are asked to come to Mexico for a "performance" of their greatness. when they show up, they realize that the town actually needs saving (not just silly acting). the comic actors begin trying to save the town and its people, but they aren't your average heroes. there's a lot of silliness involved.
Steve Martin is hilarious in this, as are Chevy Chase and Martin Short. i think my favorite is Martin Short, but they're all good. i always loved the scene where Steve Martin has to try to reach the keys to the cell where he's being kept and he has to do his "gonna make it gonna make it gonna make it" self-pump-up.
