Pulp Fiction (1994)

i was looking for random movies over the weekend on dvd that i might watch. this was on of the two that i picked up. i think this is the third time i've seen it, but this is one of the films that i don't think i'll ever see "too many" times. i've done a good job so far of not doing that anyway.

this is the first really huge film by Quentin Tarantino. it won all sorts of awards and was nominated for Best Picture. it's number 18 on the IMDb right now and was even featured on the AFI 100 Years 100 Movies list.

it focuses basically on 3 or 4 main short stories that all end up tying in together. there's Bruce Willis as the boxer who has to try to get out of town without losing his prized father's watch, there's John Travolta who has to take out the gangster boss's wife without getting himself into any trouble, and John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson who have to try to clean out their car after blowing off a guy's head in the back seat. it's a wild ride and it can be a bit confusing if you've never seen a film with a confusing, non-straightforward time sequence before.

what's my favorite story of the ones shown? i'd say the Vincent and Mia story. i love the Jack Rabbit Slim's sequence. the set is amazing and everything that happens while they're in the restaurant is entertaining. the dance scene has got to be one of the best movie dance scenes of all time. it's also hilarious to me that a lot of the dance moves are patterned after the "Batusy" from Adam West's dance in the Batman (1966) movie. that's some good stuff.
