Resident Evil (2002)
*Second Review

i guess really my "second reviews" on here aren't really reviews at all. well, i guess every once in a while i'll tack on a bit more info so it might be a justified title...maybe. my initial review for Resident Evil is located here.

i had been wanting to watch this again for a few days now. it came up in conversation over at Colin and Keith's place, so that gave me the urge. i think they're wanting to see it too, but i wasn't sure when. so i had to go ahead on my own. it often takes them months to get around to watching an "old" movie unless you actually put it in front of them. i don't understand, but that's just the way they operate. i guess most regular people do that actually.

so i've been reading up a bit on the sequel to this film. it was at one point scheduled to come out this year under the title Resident Evil: Nemesis. The Nemesis project is something that was going on in the video game Resident Evil 2, and it even gets a specific mention at the end of this film. Eric Mabius' character gets taken away by scientists so that he can become part of the project. it's basically a new and more violent zombie virus that's being developed that can cause mutations in the subjects. in the video game, he ended up with a huge eyeball thing growing on his shoulder and then the rest of him was still sort of humanoid, but very deformed and scary.

anyway, apparently due to the recent release of the film Star Trek: Nemesis (2002), the title of the new Resident Evil picture will be Resident Evil: Apocalypse. its release date right now is set for 2004, and it's categorized as being in pre-production with filming starting in August of this year. they're supposed to also be using the Jill character in this film, along with Alice. Jill was a brunette protagonist in Resident Evil 2 that came to the demolished Racoon City looking for her brother, a police officer that vanished in the chaos.

anyway, i know most of the people that will read this will care little about my summary of the video games and the upcoming movie, but i'm excited about it. i guess this is the one horror genre type thing that i have ever really been into.
