They (2002)

we went out for a late night trip to Gemstone and Leslie and i came back with a couple of good films, but we decided to watch this one instead. it's a horror movie with Wes Craven's name plastered all over it, but we weren't sure why because it doesn't seem as though he had any part in creating the film. it was mildly entertaining but is mostly not a great film.

it's about these creatures that come and take you away when all the lights are out. they are particularly after these four young adults who had these things called "night terrors" happen to them when they were kids. it's a terrible nightmare where you think these creatures are attacking you, but there really doesn't seem to be anything there. and sometimes the people wind up in strange places or go missing for a while, only to be found with a sore created by the creatures for some reason. now that the kids are grown up, the monsters are coming back to take them away for good. and eat them.

as i finish up writing that previous paragraph i wonder if i shouldn't give this movie a lower rating. the plot line is pretty idiotic really. and it does currently have a 3.9/10 on the IMDb. that's laughable as far as ratings go. oh well, i enjoyed it for a few minutes and i was never bored during the film and it didn't really make me mad at the end or disappointed or anything. i guess the only positive thing i can say is that it could have been worse.
