well, not too bad last night. i got 62% (of the 21 i predicted) and only missed two of the major categories out of those. Greg and i were having a competition. he picked Far From Heaven (2002) way too many times. i beat him by 3. i dreaded losing to him because i could imagine him verbally nudging me in the side about that for weeks to come. i think i usually tend to be a pretty good winner though. i won't be bragging all that much. not my style really.
i really wish that Philip Glass could have won for Best Score, but i knew that he wasn't going to.
Adrien Brody was a real surprise to me. as was Roman Polanski. Richard Roeper was the only person i heard even mention Adrien Brody as a winner beforehand. Roeper was pretty sure about it too. well, i guess he's not a complete moron.
the biggest surprise of the evening for me and Keith (who i watched the ceremony with) was Eminem winning for Best Song. i really expected U2 to walk off with that one. and we were just biding our time waiting to see Eminem's performance. but he wasn't even there. i was confused about the whole thing. why didn't he show? was he sure that he wouldn't win? as sure as i was? does he hate the Oscars? was he just busy? i remember his line about the Grammy's in "The Real Slim Shady" and that makes me think that he just didn't want to be considered a joke. who knows.
i think the coolest win of the evening was for Spirited Away (2001). that rocks.
