Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966)

so i knew going into this that it would take some commitment to get all the way through it. if there's a movie to recommend for driving yourself into a frenzy while watching it, this would be the one. it's all fighting, all insanity. but it gets talked about a lot. it's currently number 170 on the IMDb list and was nominated for tons of Oscars and won 5 of those. it was even a Best Picture nominee for 1966.

imagine you're sitting in a room with four people that are asleep, but they're having very intense dreams about each other, and they can communicate with each other. and they're all crazy. that's the way the dialogue of this film works. sometimes things that people say don't make much sense and they don't follow a logical pattern, but the things that come out of their mouths still effect the three other characters. other than that, the only things you need to know about the plot is that it involves one older couple and one younger couple.

so this is a wild ride. i considered taking an "intermission" halfway through, but decided against it as that would probably keep me from ever seeing the end. not that anything really got decided by having seen the end of the film, but at least i can say that i've done so. i don't think i'd recommend this one too highly. it does have some cool dialogue though, even if it doesn't completely make sense all the time. maybe i'd recommend it to some of my friends involved in theater. maybe.
