Charade (1963)

a sort of cute film that i got off the IMDb list. number 165 today on the list. this one stars Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. one of the later films of each of their careers. Cary Grant apparently only did two more films after this one, and Audrey Hepburn didn't do many movies past the mid 1960s because she was in semi retirement after that point. anyway, this is a sort of romance/comedy/thriller that revolves around a search for a hidden $250,000 in Paris.

I believe Cary Grants character goes by a total of 4 different names throughout the course of this film, and a few other characters are constantly lying about who they are and what they are after as well. but everyone's looking for the money except for Audrey Hepburn. she just seems to want to stay alive and make out with Cary Grant. like i said, cute film though.

apparently Cary Grant had problems with the script until it was made very clear that the female character was the one doing the pursuing. basically because of the quarter of a century age difference between Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. yeah, i guess you wouldn't want to look like a heel for going after a girl that was plenty young enough to be your daughter. somehow it always seems ok when it's in the movies though doesn't it? especially older movies. in my opinion Cary Grant never seemed to age very quickly. he pretty much always looked the same.

you know i never really knew for sure that he was British. i was thinking about that earlier with that weirdo accent that he has. where is that from? i mean nobody talks like Cary Grant. apparently, yeah, he's British though originally. that still doesn't really explain anything for me though. such an odd way of speaking. oh, i think it's wonderful...don't get me wrong. it's just unusual.
