Blood Simple (1984)

well a few months ago i watched Miller's Crossing (1990) and i had completely forgotten until today that i had read that that was actually a remake of Dashiell Hammett's novel Red Harvest. and now i'm reading that the title of this film, Blood Simple, is somehow another reference to Dashiell Hammett. i'm not trying to do this, i swear. i'm telling you, it's just unavoidable at this point. i am unwittingly being overrun by Dashiell Hammett references. all i was trying to do was watch the rest of the Coen Brothers films.

so this is the very first Coen Brothers film. and it's a great one. amazing plot twists, action, suspense, and wonderful acting...especially by Frances McDormand. it was weird. i actually thought she was somewhat attractive in this film. i guess since she was so much younger.

this is a movie about murder, and how insanely difficult it is to kill someone and actually get away with it. i don't think i should really give away any of the details because this film has a plot twist about every other minute in the murder that takes place. it has sort of a white trash theme to it though and a lot of medium-level Hollywood faces that i'm sure you'll recognize. they're all top notch actors though and you should just watch this film.

ok, now that i've seen one good movie tonight, i'm off to go see the newest bit of movie magic available at the movie theater...
