The Godfather: Part III (1990)

i finally decided it was time to see this one. it was nominated for Best Picture, along with six other Oscars it didn't win. i'm not a huge fan of the Godfather series of films as far as content goes, but they're very well-made films. this one was not an exception.

i don't know if you've heard this as many times as i have, but everyone had always told me that this film was terrible in comparison to the first 2 films. i thought it was pretty much the same and went right along with them. although it's basically the first film all over again, with the people and events changing slightly. this film is also has a lot more religion in it than the previous films. the family doesn't get very religious or anything, but there's a lot of stuff that happens at the Vatican and with the pope changeovers of 1978.

the main thing that i'll probably remember from this film is the relationship between Mary Corleone and Vincent Mancini. that's Michael's daughter and his nephew. Andy Garcia and Sofia Coppola. Mary Corleone is an amazingly sweet character that you wouldn't expect to see in this series of films and her romance with Andy Garcia is beautiful. i wondered why i hadn't seen this actress in anything else. it's because it was her father directing the film. oh, now we follow.

so i say that Part III is just as good as the previous 2. well pretty much anyway. and it wasn't as terrible to sit through as i thought it would be. it actually had its moments.
