Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)

this was my third time seeing this film. i think it's extremely well made. i think if i was anywhere between the ages of 6 and 16 i would watch this film as many times as possible. it's just wonderfully done. the only real flaws as far as i'm concerned are with some of the cgi effects. the centaur, fluffy, and a couple of other things are just way too fake looking for me.

i love seeing Alan Rickman in this film. he's not so much scary as he is funny. funniest line: "Someone might think you were...up to something." the groundskeeper, Filch, is hilarious too. especially when he's talking to the kids about detention. "God, I miss the screamin'." ok, enough movie quotes.

my mom thinks that instead of Richard Harris, they should've used Patrick McGoohan for Headmaster Dumbledore. i could see that possibly. i think Richard Harris is maybe a little bit easier for kids to accept though. difficult to explain my resoning there. anyway i'll give Harry Potter a 9/10. it's great. i really need to read the next book before the movie comes out. i haven't read any of them at this point.
