Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)

hmmm...i probably wouldn't have gone back here for at least another few years if i hadn't had a request for a review of this film. someone needs to suggest something more complex here for me to watch. something that i hadn't seen a million times would be good too. ok. well anyway on with the discussion.

it was good at the time and i'm sure i thought this movie was amazing when it came out. but alas i was only 10 years old. i was probably one of the more die hard TMNT fans actually. i own copies of this film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991), and somewhere i even have a copy of the making of part II. yes, i know. but that's the kind of stuff you buy when you're a 10-12 year old boy at that time.

with my current criteria of movie standards i have to give this movie a 6/10. yes, it's kind of fun but not really innovative in any way. it's just a mix of really weird stuff that makes for a good kids movie. in regards to which of the first two turtles movies was better i don't know if i could actually choose. i'd say i liked them equally. can you imagine trying to describe what this movie is about to your children? they're going to think we were morons. and they'll laugh at me for having owned this movie. but i'll know how cool the turtles were. i'll know.
