cover
Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936)

first of all, look at that cover. that's just wrong. this is a black and white movie. that picture doesn't correctly describe this classic film at all and that font is just terrible. the old cover was good. that one sucks. therefore i'll put the better cover below.

ok, that's better. don't buy the new one with the sucky cover. yeah, now that i've got that off my chest...this movie rocks. i've seen it in various classes before. it's classic Frank Capra. it stars Gary Cooper and Jean Arthur. both great actors. and it's filled with comedy and just a bit of drama. this is one of the funniest "classic" films i can think of. it gets an 8/10.

nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Writing, but it won Best Direction for Frank Capra. what won Best Picture that year you ask? that would be The Great Ziegfeld (1936) which is one of the eight Best Pictures that i have yet to see.

my friend Colin and i had been talking about watching it for a while. i told him i'm still not sure about watching the new Adam Sandler version of the film that's coming out later this year. Adam Sandler can be funny at points, but i can't help having the feeling that this wonderful movie is forever going to be pushed out of the spotlight when it's redone. oh well. you and i will always remember that this is a wonderful film. and this is the one we should watch. because it rocks.
