Home Alone (1990)

a request came in for me to watch and comment on Home Alone. no, it didn't win Best Picture or anything but it does apparently have the highest box office to production cost ratio of all time. it had a budget of $15 million and grossed over $533 million.

i think i need to add some sort of feature to my layout to where people can click a link and email me about a movie they would like to see me talk about. you know, your favorite film, my favorite film, that sort of thing. look for it coming soon. i don't have a job right now, so it's fairly likely i will accomplish the task.

i decided Home Alone deserves an 8/10 rating. the most wonderful feature of the film is the dialogue. it's supremely well-written and the sound editors did wonders with it. overlapping at just the right points with certain shots, etc. which also reminds me to praise the great editing of this film. it has some really great matches on action.

i enjoyed the movie homages that were made by the many TV sets seen throughout the film such as It's A Wonderful Life (1946) - seen dubbed in French haha - and How The Grinch Stole Christmas (1966). oh, and the music. yes. John Williams is always outstanding. which reminds me that i need to watch my new copy of A.I. (2001).

so everyone's wondering now what happened to Macaulay Culkin right? well he basically stopped acting after Richie Rich (1994) and called it a day. said it was too stressful. plus he had like $17 million pocket money right then so why not quit eh? he's got 6 siblings that are still acting though. check out his younger brother Rory in You Can Count On Me (2000).

one thing i do know that he's been up to in his spare time is attending the NYC Attack of the Clones (2002) premier at the Tribeca Film Festival on May 12 2002. here's a pic since you're dying to know what he looks like at this point. and just guess who else was there? my favorite lady...Natalie Portman. looking exquisite as always. oh, and this reminds me too...i have tickets for 4:20 pm on Thursday to see Star Wars. so i'll soon have a review up for that. then everyone will know what to expect. i'm expecting some very good things, and some not so good things. but we'll see.
