Mulholland Dr. (2001)

well well well. another of David Lynch's very thought-provoking creations. i did see Lost Highway (1997) and yes his films are very confusing. i'm sure you might figure out a few things if you follow all of the clues he leaves for you, but i prefer not to. there's the famed "10 Clues to Unlocking Mulholland Dr." list. things like pay attention to the name of Adam Kesher's film he's making, etc. yeah, you might see some tie-ins, but you're never going to totally grasp what David Lynch is getting at. and if i know anything about making film as art, i'm pretty sure that he himself doesn't always know what it is he's creating.

this one is number 90 on the IMDb top 100 list today. that leaves me with only two of the top 100 left to see. The Great Escape (1963) and Ran (1985).

i've decided that a normal sort of plot summary is not in order for this film. it's a weird tale that is very abstract. that's all that should be said i think. i love the fact that it leaves you thinking and asking questions though. Lynch is helping us to make better films for the future. true artists always try to take things in a new direction and he does this quite well as far as his plots go. wonderful use of color and costuming in the film. great cinematography too. i liked this one much more than Lost Highway and yes, i would like to see it again. i doubt i'd figure out much more of "what happened" because i don't know that anything exactly did. but it's just a great picture. 8/10.
