Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004)

Keith and i had been waiting for quite a few days for an opportunity to go and see this second part of the Kill Bill story. we both were fairly disappointed i'd say. the film is actually drastically different than Vol. 1. that's always hard when you're expecting something great and then you just get very disappointed after the fact. there have been a few other films like that for me in recent memory. I definitely wish that Cold Mountain (2003) had lived up to its full potential.

this half of the story fills us in on the bride and the facts behind Bill's attempt to murder her and her child at her wedding. we also follow her as she tracks down Budd and stumbles at the same time upon Elle Driver at his motor home in Texas. the film also flashes back to some of her martial arts training with the kung fu master named Pai Mei. we then get to see her of course...kill Bill.

ok i'm going to spoil the plot here, so look away if you plan on seeing the film. i wouldn't do it if i didn't find the plot disappointing, so i really don't feel as if i'll be robbing anyone of much when i do some complaining about it. first of all, the bride doesn't kill anyone with her sword in this film. not even Bill. in fact Bill is the only person that she does actually kill. they have always pretended that she was going to kill both Budd and Elle in this movie, but she didn't actually kill them. i mean what's that all about really? then no sword action? come on.

this film is not at all in keeping with the first film. they're so different it's insane. the pacing of this film is so much slower and there's so little fighting going on that it makes you wonder when things are actually going to get started, but they never really do. granted there are some interesting things that happen in the film and some of them are hilarious even, but overall i think any fan of the first movie will find that this one is very lacking. i own a copy of the first movie, but i don't think i'll ever say the same for this one.
