Children of a Lesser God (1986)

a couple of weeks ago a couple of students came to the desk at the media center and had a choice of either watching some other film or this one for class. Greg told them they needed to watch this one because it was great. after it was over i asked them if they enjoyed it and they said it was really good. everyone was right. it was nominated for Best Picture and Marlee Matlin won the Best Actress award for her performance.

it stars William Hurt along with Marlee Matlin in a story about a teacher who comes to a school for deaf children and ends up falling in love with the deaf mute housekeeper and former student at the school. she's very angry just in general and won't even talk to him to begin with. she think's he's an idiot and won't give him the time of day. but he begins to wear her down and convince her that she needs to start letting people into her heart again.

this was another one that i had no idea what it was about before i started watching it, but i ended up loving it. it seems like that's always when things seem to work out the best for me. a film has to surprise me along with being a wonderful film in all the normal senses of the word in order to get a 10/10. this one definitely does that. it sucks you in and i don't know how you can't feel all mushy and lovey after you've watched this film. it has so much heart to it that it spreads to your brain and you'd fall in love with anyone that was sitting next to you. it's amazing. ok, maybe i made that sound like a bunch of junk, but this is an amazing film and you must watch it.
